Choosing A Perfect Camping Location

Camping is a great way to get away from your daily routines of work or school, eat, sleep. It affords the opportunity to connect with nature in a way that the majority of us simply are not able to do on a daily basis.

What is the best way to pick the perfect camping spot?
Before you can pick an actual camping site, you first have to do research on campgrounds that fit your needs. This is easy thanks to the Internet and the fact that many campgrounds have their own website. You can check out the campsites through the website before actually going there, allowing you to make an educated decision about your choice of campground.
Keep in mind however that much like menu-pictures in a restaurant, a campsite always looks a bit more glorified than it actually is.

The first step in choosing your campsite is to decide on the type of camping you want to do. When a campground is labeled as "primitive", exactly what should you expect?
At a primitive campground you will have to provide everything that you need yourself. This includes toilet paper, lots of water, radio, gear, shelter, etc. Primitive campsites are usually deep in the wilderness where you will not find electricity, water, showers, or even pit toilets.

At the other end of the spectrum, you'll come across campgrounds that provide connections for water, sewage, and electricity - all with a glorious natural backdrop. Some campgrounds have super-upgraded their amenities and will even have a spa!

Many campgrounds are balanced within these two extremes. When deciding on a private park for camping, chances are that you will have access to all the services you could possibly need. Many offer washers and dryers, shopping areas and arcades and they are glad to accommodate customers planning on an extended stay. Most private parks also have organized activities such as bingo or kids-activities for their guests.

Fees for the Campground
Fees at private parks are generally higher than those of public campgrounds. Campgrounds in state parks can include everything from primitive to resort like settings. A lot have modern amenities such as electricity, showers, working toilets, swimming pools, tours with guides and playgrounds for children.
Most state and national forest parks only offer the basics. You are likely to discover fire pits, picnic tables and primitive toilets. Prices on these campground are in the right price range for everyone, sometimes even free.

Make your campground reservations early during good weather.
Note that during nice weather people tend to settle in early. It's important to arrive early (and bring a little luck) if you wish to snag the most desired spots.
Do you want a site near the pool and playground? Although it is an ideal site for kids it may be somewhat noisy due to pedestrian activity. This is also the case with sites in close proximity to bathrooms and showers. Expect to have a constant stream of pedestrians outside your tent.

Would you rather be in the middle of commotion and excitement, or do you desire a calm and tranquil atmosphere? Camping offers something unique for all people. There's no doubt you can find the perfect one to suit your family's needs.
